Connect Dropbox to Conduit

This walkthrough connects Dropbox to Conduit through Dropbox’s official remote MCP server. Once Dropbox sign-in is set up on your Conduit cell, you click Connect and sign in with Dropbox. Until then, Connect still asks for the app key and app secret from a Dropbox app you create.

You need:

  • A Conduit role that can manage connections: owner or admin on your organization.
  • A Dropbox account that can approve the access Conduit requests (files, sharing, and file requests).

If Dropbox sign-in is not set up yet, Connect shows a form for your app key and app secret. Paste both, then approve access on Dropbox. That connection keeps working until November 9, 2026. An existing Dropbox connection is unaffected. Contact your operator or support if you expected sign-in and still see the paste form.

  1. In Conduit, go to Connections (/org/catalog) and click Connect on Dropbox.
  2. Sign in on Dropbox’s own screen and approve the requested access. Expected: you return to Conduit with Dropbox Connected.

Conduit stores the tokens encrypted and refreshes them. Disconnecting removes the connection in Conduit and asks Dropbox to revoke that grant.

Connections that still use a pasted app key

Section titled “Connections that still use a pasted app key”

A Dropbox connection created by pasting an app key and secret keeps working until November 9, 2026. That date is DROPBOX_LEGACY_APP_CREDENTIALS_REMOVAL_DATE (2026-11-09).

The catalog does not show a sunset banner until Dropbox sign-in works on this cell. Once it does, organization admins see this banner on an API-key connection:

Dropbox now connects through your Dropbox account. API-key connections stop working on November 9, 2026.

Reconnect with Dropbox starts Dropbox sign-in for the organization. Members do not see the banner.

Dropbox’s server covers files, shared links, and file requests. Deletes, moves, copies, and sharing changes need write access in Conduit, and Conduit asks for confirmation before those run. Some tools Dropbox documents for other clients (Paper, and a few file-history tools) may not be available under the same names. Dropbox’s help page is the current list.
